Knitting Club

From 6-8 p.m., Monday, Oct. 15, the Knitting Club will meet at the Palmerton Area Library. The club is for all area residents interested in knitting, crocheting, and other crafts. New members are always welcome.Scavenger HuntA scavenger hunt will be sponsored by the Teen Advisory Group of the Palmerton Area Library for all ages on Wednesday, Oct. 31. Stop in the library to pick up the list of items to find while you Trick or Treat. Bring back the things you find by 7:45 p.m. for snacks and prizes.Over 60 ClubAt noon, Tuesday, Oct. 16, the Over 60 Club of Palmerton will meet at the Palmerton Borough Hall, 401 Delaware Ave. Ron Rabenold will be the speaker, and will discuss the November elections.Miller Blood DriveMiller-Keystone Blood Center will conduct its next bimonthly Palmerton community blood drive on Friday, Oct. 19.Registration hours are 12:30-5:30 p.m. The drive will be at the First United Church of Christ, next to Palmerton Borough Hall.This visit is sponsored by "an anonymous friend." (Sponsorship pays for the additional refreshments - fresh sandwiches and doughnuts, in addition to the cookies, crackers and soft drinks that Miller provides, and the church custodian's fee).Since Trima machines will not be available, there will be a need for more whole blood donors to reach the goal. "Regulars" should receive a phone call and/or an email message, reminding them, and asking them to make appointments. However, they will need additional occasional and new donors to supplement them. Donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, and be in general good health.For any question about medical eligibility, call Miller at 1-800-223-6667 during office hours. Please bring a photo ID, such as a driver's license. Previous Miller donors are reminded to bring their Miller cards.To make an appointment, or for more information, call George Ashman at (610) 826-2097. Donors with appointments are given priority at registration. However, walk-ins are also welcome.Lions to meetPalmerton Lions will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15 at the Fireline Hotel, Bowmanstown.
