Tractor trailer gets stuck on Tamaqua bridge

ANDREW LEIBENGUTH/TIMES NEWS Both lanes of traffic on the temporary Center Street (SR309) bridge in Tamaqua were blocked for awhile yesterday afternoon after a tractor trailer struck the bridge. The impact flattened the tractor trailer's tire and bent the axil, preventing it from moving. Tamaqua Police Chief Dave Mattson stated the width of the bridge makes it hard for two tractor trailers to safely pass each other. In addition to thanking the Tamaqua Fire Police for helping direct traffic, Mattson stated his appreciation to passing PPL workers who used their bucket truck to relocate downed wires at the bridge to allow for traffic to alternate on the bridge. No injuries were reported. Tamaqua Fire Police volunteer Ed Kashmer helps alternate traffic over the temporary SR309 bridge.
