The Tamaqua Seniors met Sept. 20 at the Tamaqua Community Center with 88 members in attendance. Five new members were welcomed: Carol Yanalavage, Winnie Dolan, Mary Bittle, Ann Fedor and John Fedor.President Jean Machamer conducted the business session and provided an inspirational reading. Secretary Joan Ann Garber and Vice President Nancy Gerber provided their reports. Dolly Kamant and Rose Mulhern were added to the sick list.Rose Vallee provided the invocation, entitled "Summer." Upcoming events were discussed, including a jewelry demonstration to be held on Oct. 11; a Chinese auction on Oct. 18; a trip to Olive Garden during October. August and September birthdays will be celebrated at the Sept. 27 meeting.The meeting concluded with cards and social games.The group meets every Thursday at 1 p.m., at the community center. Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join. The center is handicap accessible.GriefShareA new GriefShare group is forming at Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church, scheduled to begin weekly meetings on Sept. 26. GriefShare is a ministry to anyone grieving the loss of a loved one. The Biblically-based, nondenominational sessions will be held Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. for a 13-week period.Bethany EC is located at 223 E.
