September 25, 1965 Marian uses the statue of liberty play late in the fourth quarter and Den Boyle races 61 yards for a touchdown to lead the Colts to a 12-7 win over Pius X. The winners, coached by Jack Malarkey, open the game's scoring in the second frame when Joe Colancecco takes a Jim Shober and goes 59 yards for a touchdown. Pius X takes a 7-6 lead, which stands until Boyle's long run in the final period. Boyle finishes the contest with 90 yards rushing.
