A fire in Schuylkill County that caused considerable damages to a vacant property, has been ruled arson. State police at Frackville said the fire occurred at 201 B. St. at Vine Street, in Girardville, about 12:19 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15.

Fire marshal Trooper Michael J. Yeity said the fire was discovered at a shed and quickly spread to a deck of the residence. The fire spread to the roof and upper floors of the residence.One firefighter sustained smoke inhalation and was treated and released at a county hospital. The origin of the fire was the interior of the shed and was incendiary in nature, Yeity ruled.Damages were estimated at $25,000.
