A "downtown mall" was proposed for First Street, Lehighton, during the reorganization meeting dinner program of the Lehighton Chamber of Commerce held at Mahoning Valley Country Club. "The Downtown Mall" is the idea of Frank Brunner, Lehighton, who with Dan Watt, presented an artist's conception of the business section. The pavements along the east side of the borough park would be removed and the street widened. The mall would extend from Coal Street to Iron Street.
