Carbon County Area Agency on Aging looking for volunteers

Carbon County Area Agency on Aging is currently taking applications for volunteers to help in the Long Term Care Ombudsman Program. This very important and much needed program has been developed by the PA Agency on Aging to advocate on behalf of residents in long term care facilities as well as individuals receiving services from community and adult day care.

The mission of the Ombudsman Program is "to advocate for those who can't, support those who can and ensure that all long term care consumers live with dignity and respect." A Volunteer Ombudsman can be an important part of helping to provide this dignity and respect by enabling long term care residents to understand and to exercise their rights and have a voice in their care and well-being. Gone are the days when long term care meant loss of freedom and dignity. Now long term care residents are encouraged to partake in the decisions of how care is to be provided and also to become a vital part of improving the everyday life in the facility they now call home. All persons interested in becoming a Volunteer Long Term Care Ombudsman are encouraged to call Carbon County Agency on Aging at (610) 824-1315 and ask for the Ombudsman to learn more about this great program. Free training is provided. Consider becoming a part of the Ombudsman Team.
