Survivor shares her thoughts on 9-11 attack on New York City

A former New Jersey resident, who relocated to Jim Thorpe, was among the members of the Eucmenical Choir singing at the Service of Remembrance on Tuesday night.

Marcia Smith is more than just a survivor of the traumatic events that took place 11 years ago on Sept. 11, 2001. She is joyful."I was in Tower II, at 8 a.m.," she said. "I had been transferred to another building and had been in the Promanade Shops for breakfast."When the planes hit, she was an eyewitness to the collapse of Tower II.Then trying to get out of the city, she was trampled, but her life was saved by other walkers."I continued working on West Street next to the ground zero," she said. "It burned for months. I could not deal with the depression and guilt."Co-workers began a Bible Study, which helped her come to closure."I learned I felt so bad because I felt guilty for surviving," she said. "I finally received closure a year after the attack."My strength is coming from the Lord," she said. "He is our Fortress."
