Lehighton police reported the arrest of a Lansford man for violating a borough ordinance for consumption of alcohol in public.

Barry L. Schlier, 31, of 345 W. Kline Ave., was cited on Saturday, Sept. 8, about 2:15 a.m. in the 200 block of N. First St. Police said he was observed with an open bottle of beer while standing on the sidewalk.Police cited him for violationg ordinance 49-3B, which reads, "Consumption or possession in public prohibited, it shall be hereafter unlawful for any person to: carry or possess any opened vessel containing any alcoholic beverage while in or about a public place within the borough of Lehighton."
