Nesquehoning woman victim in Monroe accident

A Nesquehoning woman was killed in a fiery, one-car accident on Stoney Hollow Road in Tobyhanna Township, Monroe County.

Denise M. Jacobs, 43, was pronounced dead at the scene by personnel from the Monroe County Coroner's Office.The accident was reported at 10:47 p.m. on Thursday.Pocono Mountain Regional Police Chief Harry Lewis said his office was dispatched to a vehicle fire on Stoney Hollow Road.Upon arrival, the officer found a vehicle across the roadway that was fully engulfed in flames.After the fire was extinguished, it was discovered that an individual had died as a result of the accident.The vehicle, police said, had left the roadway and struck a concrete pillar to the Interstate 80 overpass.Police said Jacobs was identified after an autopsy was conducted yesterday.The obituary for Jacobs appears on page 4 of the EARLY TIMES.Police were assisted at the scene by State Police, the Tobyhanna and Tunkhannock Township fire departments, and the coroner's officer.Police are still investigating the cause of the accident.
