Dudefest held to promote suicide prevention and awareness

ANDREW LEIBENGUTH/TIMES NEWS

Volunteers held their 4th annual Dudefest event recently at the West Penn Rod and Gun Club. The event, held in memory of Cory McCarroll, who took his own life in 2009, consisted of music, activities, prizes and homemade foods to raise donations for the Schuylkill County Suicide Prevention Task Force and other local programs. For more information about the program or to get help, call 800-SUICIDE (800-784-2433) or 800-273-TALK (800-273-8255) or the deaf hotline at 800-799-4889. Key organizer Tara Stauffenberg stated her appreciation to all who donated, volunteered or helped, to include the numerous bands and local businesses. Socializing on a concrete slab adjacent to the club were Jacob Triano, 12; Shaylin Clouser, 16; Kaitlyn Stauffenberg, 12; Skylar Clouser, 12; Tyler Bauder, 17; and Mady Coccio, 12. All are from Tamaqua, except Bauder, who is from Lansford.
