A Monroe County truck driver escaped injury after his rig caught fire and burned in Lehigh County. State police at Fogelsville said the incident occurred about 10:38 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24, along Interstate 78 in Weisenberg Township.

Troopers said Robert B. Michaels, 68, of Saylorsburg, was operating a truck tractor with trailer westbound in the right lane. As he drove westbound an unknown problem developed in the engine block. A fire then erupted.Michaels was able to pull the rig to the north shoulder and exited it safely before the tractor and trailer began fully engulfed in flames.No injuries were reported in the incident, troopers said.
