Break-in, theft incidents probed

State police at Fern Ridge are investigating a burglary and several theft incidents.

The break-in occurred at a unoccupied residence at 231 Wintergreen Court, in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County. About 6:10 p.m. on July 19 forced entry was made through the front door. The action activated the alarm and the intruders fled without anything being taken. The home is owned by Michelina J. Hubner, 63, of Stroudsburg.Troopers said a juvenile from Stroudsburg, met with a male juvenile at a parking area adjacent to SR715 and Doll Road, in Jackson Township, Monroe County, about 4 p.m. on July 17 to sell his Ipad and Ipod. The suspect juvenile, believed to be between14 and 16, asked to see the items, then drove off without paying for them. The items are valued at $550.Jeffrey Raines, of Stony Mountain Road, Albrightsville, Penn Forest Township, Carbon County, reported a white male removed the gutter downspouts, window screens and about 30 retaining wall blocks from his residence. The incident occurred between 10 and 10:30 a.m. on July 16. Troopers said the suspect is known and charges are pending.Teresa Greggo, of Erie Court, Chestnuthill Township, reported someone removed several items from her mailbox. The items were then discarded down the street in a neighbors' yard. The incident occurred on Friday, July 20.Steven N. Baryk, 58, of Gilbert, reported he dropped his wallet in the parking lot of Kinsley's Shoprite, located along SR209, in Chestnuthill Township, on July 19, about 8:15 p.m. as he was leaving the store. A person found it and turned it in to the courtesy desk at the store. Baryk said when he retrieved it he found $160 in cash had been removed from the wallet.Anyone with information concerning any of these incidents is asked to call troopers at (570)-646-2271.
