Fern and moss hike planned at CCEEC

Carbon County Environmental Center will hold a fern and moss identification hike at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 21. The program is tailored to adults interested in learning more about plant life, though all ages and interest levels may participate.

Joe Lankalis will lead the hike to assist participants in identifying ferns and their allies such as mosses, lichens and liverworts. Trails around CCEEC are home to a variety of these plants, so participants are guaranteed to encounter diverse species. The hike is offered free to all CCEEC members and a nominal donation is requested of non-members.For more information, or to register, call EEC at (570) 645-8597. The EEC is located at the west end of Mauch Chunk Lake Park, just outside Jim Thorpe, along the Lentz Trail Highway.
