Justice of the Peace Charles A. Milson, Catasauqua, at a haring on charges of disorderly conduct, gave Donald O'Hawk the alternative of paying a $25 fine or 30 days in jail, or paying a fine of $5 and costs plus a spanking by his father. The latter had to be carried out by witnesses in the magistrate's office. O'Hawk pondered the decision. Finally, his father placed his left leg on a chair, the son bent over the father's knee, and justice was served.
