Motorcyclist seriously injured

A Nesquehoning motorcyclist was seriously injured Sunday afternoon when he lost control of his bike after striking an earth embankment in Franklin Township. Emergency personnel were called to the scene in what is know as the "S" curves along Long Run Road just after 3 p.m. when it was reported a biker was found lying along the roadway. The man was traveling north when he apparently failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, struck the embankment and was ejected from the bike. He was found lying along the berm and his bike in the north bound lane about 30-feet away. The victim was treated at the scene by Lehighton paramedics then flown via Penn Star helicopter to a Lehigh Valley area trauma center. Responding was the Franklin Township Fire Company whose fire police maintained traffic control at the scene. Franklin township police are investigating the incident.
