Schuylkill crashes

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported investigating two crashes on Schuylkill County roads.

A crash was reported at 1:16 p.m. on Friday, June 29, along the Gordon Nagle Trail (SR901), near the intersection with Mengle St., in North Manheim Township.Troopers said Ralph O. Kunst, 60,of Lifle, Ill., was operating a 1999 Jeep Cherokee eastbound and slowing down to stop at the intersection for a vehicle turning left when his vehicle was struck in the rear by a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Angela A. Osborne, 18, of Minersville.Osborne sustained a minor injury and was taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-E. Norwegian St., Pottsville. Damages were termed significant to the Cavalier and minor the Jeep.Troopers cited Osborne for driving a vehicle at a (un) safe speed.Troopers said a one vehicle mishap occurred about 5:15 a.m. on Sunday, July 1, along Chestnut St. (SR443), in West Brunswick Township. Troopers said Rachael R. Hauptly, 21, of Pottsville, was driving a 1998 Subaru Outback westbound in the right lane and approaching a curve. Hauptly lost control of the vehicle while traveling at a high rate of speed. The Subaru started to swerve and fish tail as it crossed the eastbound lane and onto a grassy area along the berm. The Subaru then struck a tree stump with the driver's side rear portion. It continued west in the grass area until it came to rest facing west along a private driveway.Hauptly and her passenger, Craig E. Kehley, 24, of Schuylkill Haven, were not injured. Troopers cited Hauptly for driving a vehicle at a (un) safe speed.
