Carbon commissioner to serve on state board

Carbon County Commissioner Wayne Nothstein, center, was sworn in as a member of the state Deputy Sheriffs' Education and Training Board Thursday morning by Judge Steven Serfass, left. Nothstein received word from Gov. Tom Corbett's office appointing him to the board as of June 20. The Deputy Sheriffs' Education and Training Board advises the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency in the development, implementation and operation of legislatively mandated basic training and continuing education that serve as the basis for certification of deputy sheriffs within the Commonwealth's 67 counties. Nothstein will serve a three-year term. Holding the Bible during the swearing in is Rayonna Fedor of Judge Serfass' office.
