A Schuylkill County driver was cited following a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 10:08 a.m. on Monday, June 25, along Bethel Road, in Pine Grove Township.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Jay P. Bowen, 80, of Schuylkill Haven, was operating a 2003 Dodge Dakota truck southbound and rounding a curve when he lost control. The truck began to turn counter-clockwise and crossed the center line and traveled into the oncoming lane.The truck then went onto the berm for about 40 feet before striking a tree with the passenger side front fender. After impact the truck continued to turn sharply in a counter-clockwise manner before the passenger side struck a small embankment of rocks.The truck then turned onto the passenger side and came to rest against the embankment. Bowen sustained lacerations to the arms and head and complained of neck and back injuries. He was taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-E. Norwegian St., Pottsville.Troopers said he was cited for driving a vehicle at an (un) safe speed.
