McAdoo men must pay restitution to law firm

JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - Two Luzerne County men convicted of harassing Sarah Palin's Alaska lawyers have been ordered to pay $15,010 in restitution.

U.S. District Judge Timothy Burgess on Wednesday ordered Shawn and Craig Christy of McAdoo to immediately pay the amount to the law firm Clapp, Peterson, Tiemessen, Thorsness, Johnson LLC.The firm sought restitution for billable hours that it said were spent dealing with the large volume of harassing calls to its offices in Anchorage and Fairbanks.Burgess earlier this month sentenced the father and son to time served and five years' probation but didn't immediately rule on restitution. On Wednesday, he rejected Craig Christy's argument that there was no identifiable loss.Burgess said the firm suffered a loss due to the hours spent dealing with the Christys instead of client business.
