Carbon County Environmental Education Center will host a wildlife program, "Meet the Penguin," at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 23. The program will be presented by the staff at the Lehigh Valley Zoo.

The program will include a visit by a live penguin, as well as a few other exotic animals from the zoo's education department. Information on the animals' natural history and adaptations will be presented, along with mention of the threats these creatures face in the wild.CCEEC members are invited free of charge, and a nominal donation is requested of non-members. Preregistration is required and can be done by calling 570-645-8598. CCEEC is located at the west end of Mauch Chunk Lake Park, just outside Jim Thorpe, along the Lentz Trail Highway.
