The roadmaster for Pine Grove Township in Schuylkill County was struck by a truck and killed Thursday while working along a township road.

State police at Schuylkill Haven identified the victim as Ralph Geist, 63, of Pine Grove.According to troopers Geist was working along Chapel Drive when he was struck by a 2003 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by Jeremy Wise, 24, of Pine Grove.Troopers said Wise was southbound and negotiating a right curve about 11 a.m. while Geist was standing/walking in the center of the road. Wise attempted to avoid Geist by moving to the left.The truck struck Geist with the front passenger side corner. After being struck Geist came to rest off the west side of the road. A medical helicopter was called and landed nearby but Geist was pronounced dead at the scene.The investigation into the crash is continuing. No charges have been filed in the matter.
