Minor repair services available for local low income homeowners

Chore Minor Home Repair Services are available for income eligible Carbon County homeowners who are personally unable to perform certain home maintenance tasks and have no other responsible person available or capable of performing these tasks.

Chore services are provided for the purpose of maintaining a person's safety in the home and may include: installation of smoke detector(s), installation of Carbon Monoxide detector(s), installation of bathroom grab bars and for tub and toilet areas, installation or repair of indoor and outdoor handrails, minor repair or replacement of loose floorboards or step(s), installation of outdoor ramps (funding, space and size permitting).Cosmetic home improvements and major housing repairs are not permissible under the program.Services are provided based on need and problem resolution and may be restricted in amount and type based on available funding and other program and/or structural requirements and limitations. Carbon County Homeowners who meet specific Income requirements may be eligible for assistance. Program Income Eligibility Guidelines are: one person household, $27,225; two person household, $36,775; three person household, $46,325; four person household, $55,875; six person household, $65,425. For each additional person add, $9,550.Some income exclusions may apply. Anyone in need of assistance or requiring more information should contact the Carbon County Action Committee Office at 610-377-6400, Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.Chore Minor Home Repair Services are made possible through the Pa. DPW Human Services Development Fund with the support of Pa. DCED Community Services Block Grant Funds.
