Elderly home help assistance available to low income seniors

The Elderly Home Help Program provides in-home assistance to income eligible Carbon County residents (aged 60 and older) who are disabled or recovering from a recent hospital stay or injury and have no one else available and/or willing to assist with the care of their home or personal needs. Services are provided for the purpose of ensuring safe and sanitary conditions and may include: light housekeeping assistance, laundry assistance; and/or shopping assistance.

Carbon County residents aged 60 and older who meet specific income and need-related requirements are eligible for the program. Program income eligibility guidelines are: one person household, $13,962; two person household, $18,912; three person household, $23,862; four person household, $28,812; and five person household, $33,762. For each additional person add, $4,950.Some exclusions may apply. Anyone in need of assistance or requiring more information should contact the Carbon County Action Committee office at 610-377-6400, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Elderly Home Help Services are made possible through Pa. Department of Community and Economic Development pass-thru grants from the US Department of Health and Human Service's Community Services Block Grant.
