State police at Lehighton reported on the following crashes probed by troopers.
On Saturday, June 2, about 4:50 p.m. troopers responded to a one vehicle crash along SR248 in Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Gene L. Warnkin III, 28, of Lehighton, was operating a 2001 Ford Mustang when he said he was distracted reaching for a soda. The Ford struck the center median, then did a "half clockwise" spin and came to rest in the lanes of travel. Warnkin was not injured. Troopers were assisted at the scene by volunteers from the Aquashicola and Lower Towamensing fire companies and Lehigh Township police.Troopers cited Warnkin for careless driving.Troopers investigated a crash about 9:20 p.m. on Monday, June 4, along SR209 near HTY Rd., in Polk Township, Monroe County. Cathy Amburlee Haydt, 26, of Kunkletown, was operating a 2008 Chevrolet Aveo northbound when her vehicle struck a deer which entered the road in front of her.She was not injured.
