Summer activities at the Palmerton Area Library

The Palmerton Area Library has activities scheduled all summer long for kids and adults. The Summer Reading theme this year is "Dream Big READ!"

On Saturdays in June, the library will be offering Cake Decorating Classes. The classes are for adults and teens; however, a special Father's Day class for kids and their parents is being offered on June 16. Call the library at (610) 826-3424 for more information.On Sunday, June 10, from 1-3 p.m., the library is having the first ever Student Art Show. All young artists ages 6-18 are invited to enter their art work in the show. All art work must be matted and ready to hang and delivered to the library by Friday, June 8, at 4 p.m. The show is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Library. Prizes will be given in two age categories. Join us for a nice afternoon and encourage our young artists.Preschool Circle Time, for ages 3-5, will be held every Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. beginning June 14, and ending on July 26. Children will enjoy stories, songs, dancing and rhythm instruments. Summer Reading Club for kids in kindergarten through sixth grade will be held on Friday mornings at 10:30 a.m. beginning June 15, and ending on July 27. The elementary age kids will enjoy stories, games, crafts and more. The first session on June 15 will feature the Pocono Wildlife Rehabilitation Center and lots of nighttime animals in the library.There will be no summer reading the first week in July. Along with the summer reading program, the library is once again sponsoring a reading contest, which is open to everyone from preschoolers through adults. Participants are invited to "Read Across the Sky" and create a star chain in the library. Sign up now and add a star to the chain for every book you read during the summer. Watch the chain grow and compete for prizes.Get more music in your life this summer by signing up for Music Together with Rachel, who will be offering family music and movement classes at the library Monday mornings at 10 a.m. in July. www.jtartsinmotion.com.The Yoga Classes will continue at the library all summer long on Saturday mornings. The Knitting Club will continue to meet the first and third Mondays throughout the summer. Due to high demand, more computer classes have been added on Thursdays all summer long. If you would like to check out the beginner classes, or classes in Word, PowerPoint or Excel, please call the library for more information.The library is open on Mondays and Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10-5, and Saturdays from 9-4. During July and August, the library is open 9-1 on Saturdays, with the weekday hours remaining the same.Check the calendar on the website
