Schuylkill teen facing charges

A Schuylkill County teen is facing charges following a one vehicle crash that occurred about 12:05 a.m. on Sunday, June 3. State police at Frackville said the accident occurred along Greenbury Rd., in New Castle Township.

Troopers said Brandon R. Lafferty, 18, of Minersville, was operating a 2003 Subaru Legacy eastbound on Valley Road when he lost control while rounding a sharp right curve. Troopers said Lafferty then stated he decided to travel onto Greenbury Road because he was going "too fast."Troopers said Lafferty subsequently traveled onto Greenbury and entered the property at 101 Greenbury Rd. The Legacy traveled over the lawn and hit a small drainage ditch, then entered a wooded area where it struck several trees. At this time Lafferty fled the scene on foot and was not located. The Legacy, which is registered to Trista Lecher, of Minersville, sustained heavy front end damage.An investigation led to Laferty as the driver. He was not injured in the crash.Troopers said he will be charged with immediate notice of accident to police, driving a vehicle at an (un) safe speed, and driving while operating privilege is suspended.
