Salem St. Paul's Church

Salem St. Paul's Lutheran Church will honor its graduates from high school and college on July 15 at the 9:30 a.m. service. Graduating from high school are Keeley Gould, Kim Perry, Adam Jablonski and Michael Hughart. Katie Ames graduated from college. If anyone was missed please let Linda Hinton know ASAP.Council newsOn Sunday, May 6, a congregational meeting was held at Salem St. Paul's to approve the annual report and elect new council members. The annual report was approved, and SSP thanks all the committee chairmen for submitting their reports for publication. If you haven't read the report yet, please pick up a copy at church and read all of the positive activities that are happening.Also, at the meeting, Kim Hughart was elected to serve a second term as council member. Other council members are: Barb Yarashas, president; Ray Borger, vice president; Debbie Smith, secretary; Ken Jablonski; Rob Coleman; Rich Gould; Janet Serfass; Patty (Serfass) Oswald; Joan McKinsey has agreed to serve on council. Pastor Scheffey is also a member of council, Joe Hughart serves as treasurer, and Norma Correale attends to take the minutes. On June 10, council members will be installed at the 10:30 a.m. service.Vacation Bible SchoolSalem St. Paul will host Vacation Bible School, Operation Overboard, where children "Dare to Go Deep With God" starting at 10:30 a.m. Sunday June 24, after worship, and continuing Monday through Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The closing celebration will be Thursday at 8 p.m.This year they will dive in and discover God's underwater universe. They will explore the depths of God's Word with Operation Overboard, a kid-friendly submarine for children to enjoy.Their VBS program is for the whole family, with classes for ages 4 through grade 6 and adult classes, too. Junior and senior high students are encouraged to come and be teachers aides, or help with crafts, music, games or snacks. They need teachers and helpers and if interested in volunteering, or if you have any questions, call Maribeth Dudak at (570) 722-2992. Look for registration forms in the church lobby and turn them into the church office.
