Three local heroes were recognized at the town square during the Memorial Day Service by the New Philadelphia Borough for acts of courage and valor after rescuing John Marcavage, 51, from a fire that destroyed his home, 220 Valley Street, on October 22 of last year. Marcavage was flown to a burn center after suffering severe burns over most of his body. From left are Joe Genunis, Dave Heffner and Mark Thorn.
