Thorpe powerlifting squad finishes the season unbeaten

The Jim Thorpe High School Powerlifting Team finished another successful season. The team went undefeated and captured two state titles. Team members earned numerous individuals awards also.

Their first competition was in November at the USA Powerlifting Stars and Stripes BP/DL championships. Eleven team members competed with seven earning championships in their respective weight classes.In February, the team competed at Emmaus High School at the 2012 Pennsylvania Teenage Powerlifting Championships. Twenty-one team members competed. The team garnered first place in the small school division with five junior varsity and five varsity lifters earning awards. Two were champs of their weight classes.In March, the team traveled to Abington Heights to participate in the Abington Heights 25th Annual Weightlifting Meet. Twenty-three team members competed. The team captured first place with 12 team members earning individual awards. Three team members were champions of their weight classes.On April 15th, the team hosted their 9th Annual Olympian Ironman Lift-A-Thon. Twenty-six team members competed. The team took first place with 18 individual honors going to team members. Six were champions of their weight classes. Tee Jay Lefew won best lifter in the light division in both the bench press and deadlift.The end of April they traveled to Concordville to Glenn Mills School to take part in the

P.S.C.P.A. State Powerlifting Championships. Nineteen team members competed. Ten junior varsity and four varsity lifters placed with two being champs of their weight classes. The team earned first place honors in the small school division.

The Jim Thorpe powerlifting team had an undefeated season that included a pair of state titles.
