Young bicyclist hit by car, hurt

A boy is in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, after being hit by a vehicle while riding his bicycle in Coaldale on Thursday evening.

Police Chief Timothy Delaney said that, according to preliminary reports by investigating Officer Charles Blesse, the boy was riding a bicycle on W. Howard Avenue at about 7:30 p.m. when he entered Fifth Street and was struck by the vehicle, which was being driven by a Summit Hill woman.The boy was not wearing a helmet, and his head hit the windshield, cracking the glass. The boy complained of leg pain, and was taken by ambulance to the hospital.No names were available as of early Friday. More information is expected to be released Monday.
