Elvis tribute show to benefit community programs

Lehighton Rotary Club is presenting an Elvis tribute show on Saturday, June 2at Lehighton American Legion. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with a turkey dinner beginning at 6 p.m. "Elvis in Concert" will begin at approximately 7 p.m. All proceeds from this fundraiser will benefit the community programs of Lehighton Rotary Club.

Award-winningElvis tribute artist Jeff Krick will be the featured entertainer. While livingin Pennsylvania, Kricktravels and performs throughout the United States and Canada as well as onboard cruise ships in the Caribbean and Bermuda. He has even performed for the State Department inWashington, D.C. Aprofessional entertainer since 1990, Krick has wonnumerousawards and contests for his "unbelievable voice and authenticity of bringing Elvis to the stage." On several occasions, hehasperformed with and is endorsed by Elvis'back upvocal group, the Stamps Quartet. They toured with Elvis from 1971 to 1977.According to Lehighton Rotary Club PresidentErica Heery, "It's because of this important fundraiser thatRotary Club of Lehighton is able tohelp our community through our various programs and projects." She adds, "It's a way that we can help improve and savelives both locally through ourdictionary and literacy projects and worldwide through our 'End Polio Now' campaign."Rotary International is the world's first service club organization, with more than 1.2 million members in 34,000 clubs worldwide. Rotarians are volunteers who work locally, regionally, and internationally to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide education and job training, promote peace, and eradicate polio under the motto "Service Above Self."Locally, Lehighton Rotary Club organized in 1921. Among its community projects, the club annually distributes dictionaries to every third grade student in Lehighton and Palmerton Area School Districts in public, parochial, and private schools.
