Tamaqua High School students help teach art to elementary students

ANDREW LEIBENGUTH/TIMES NEWS About 100 works of art, ranging from paintings to clay art, were on display Thursday evening in the lobby of the Tamaqua Elementary School. The art show was put together following eight weeks of classes with the elementary students by five Tamaqua 11th graders as part of Tamaqua High School language arts teacher Mrs. Thelma Urban's Hero Project. Hero Project organizers were students Denae Starry, Erika Cassell, Karina Derr, Christian Gardiner and Victoria Mueller.Holding photograph and abstract art are Mason Job, 7, and one of the Hero Project organizers, Denae Starry, 16. Mason is the son of Beth and Fran Job of Tamaqua.
