Tamaqua Bethany E.C.C. holds service for veterans

ANDREW LEIBENGUTH/TIMES NEWS In addition to many churches throughout our area, members of the Tamaqua Bethany E.C. Church on East Broad Street held their annual Memorial Day services (contemporary and traditional) on Sunday. In addition to a patriotic sermon by Rev. Kevin Roberts, the service consisted of the Pledge of Allegiance, singing of the "Star Spangled Banner" and "O Beautiful for Spacious Skies," acknowledgement and recogniton of veterans and military personnel, readings about "The Empty Place Setting" and "The 13 Folds of the American Flag," playing of Taps, performance of "Battle Hymn of the Republic" and My Country, Tis of Thee," Rodney Clouser performing God Bless America" and others. Prior to the beginning of the service, Glee Krapf of Tamaqua looks over a special arrangement displaying photos of local veterans. Glee's husband, Calvin Andrew Krapf Jr., who passed away in 1997, retired from the Army after service in both the Vietnam and Korean War.
