Who let the Dawgs out?

Those who participate in the 12th annual Running of the Dawgs 5K Run/Fitness Walk and 1-Mile Fun Run on Saturday can see for themselves.The event will be held at the Northern Lehigh Athletic Stadium, 1 Bulldog Lane, Slatington. Registration will take place at 7:30 a.m.The 1-Mile Fun Run starts at 8:30 a.m., followed by the 5K Run/Walk at 9 a.m. The post race features awards, a drawing, and dog costume judging.Awards will be given by way of 5K run prizes to first, second and third-place overall male/female and a variety of other categories, according to Bill Danish, event chairman.Dogs are also welcome to come in costume, as there will be an award given for the best dog costume, said Danish, who added a prize will be awarded to the best dressed dog in town."We have a few more sponsors that came on board to help us with the event," Danish said. "Hopefully, we advertised enough to get the word out."Danish said proceeds from the event will go to educational enrichment programs within the school district."The more money we raise, the more will be put back into the school district," he said. "The more registrations we have, the better off we are, and the better of the students in the school district will be."For more information, visit
