May 30, 1955 Nesquehoning's Bill Sluck and Lansford's Mike Kerestes both win two events at the Carbon County track and field meet, held at Summit Hill. Sluck captures the 880 and mile, while Kerestes tops the field in the shot put and discus. The Panthers, who capture the team title by one point over Lehighton, also receive firsts from Bussy Earley (440), Charlie Wernett (broad jump) and Mike Midas (high jump). The Indians get top performances from Carl "Skippy" Koons (100) and LaMar Semmel (pole vault).
