Schuylkill County crashes

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on several crashes investigated by troopers on Schuylkill County roadways.

A crash occurred about 1:25 p.m. on May 1 along W. Meadow St., in Reilly Township. Troopers said Andrew A. Amon II, 76, of Tremont, was operating a 1991 Ford Crown Victoria and attempting a left turn onto W. Meadow from SR209 when he accelerated out of control and struck the rear portion of a 2006 Chevrolet 3500 series bus parked on the left shoulder. After impact with the bus the Ford continued to accelerate and traveled into a storage building on the right side of the road where it came to rest. Troopers said due to the acceleration stones with thrown and smashed windows at 12C S. Tremont Rd.Amon and passengers Margaret J. Rowlands, 56, and Wayne B. Reynolds, 50, both of Tremont, were all not injured. Amon was cited for careless driving.A crash was reported about 8:02 p.m. on May 3 along SR901 (Gordon Nagle Trail) in North Manheim Township. Troopers said Jessica Pauly, 28, of Minersville, was driving a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee westbound when it left the road and struck a embankment. After striking the embankment the Jeep continued on and struck several PennDOT road signs and then several large rocks.After hitting the rocks the Jeep became airborne and began flipping end over end about three or four times before coming to rest on its wheels against the embankment.Troopers said Pauly was taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center (SMC), Pottsville, for a blood test. A charge of driving under the influence (DUI) is pending the test results. Two male children in the vehicle, ages one and three, were not injured. She was cited for careless driving.A accident was reported at 7:01 .am. on Friday, May 4, along SR901 in North Manheim Township. Troopers said James p. Kaunas, 61, of Orwigsburg, was operating a 1994 Ford F150 truck westbound while Timothy s. O'Donnell, 45, of Ashland, was driving a 2000 Jeep Cherokee, eastbound. The left front tire on the Ford came off and struck the front end of the Jeep. After the tire came off Kaunas was able to pull off the side of teh road.No one was injured.Troopers investigated a crash on Friday about 7:10 p.m. along E. Second Mountain Road, in North Manheim Township. Troopers said Kirstin M. Bassininsky, 17, of Pottsville, was driving a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire eastbound with one hand on the steering wheel when it slipped off. Bassininsky lost control of the car when left the road and traveled into a grassy embankment for about 42 feet before striking a mailbox post. After impact with the mailbox the car continued on the grass portion for another 40 yards before coming to rest.Bassininsky and passenger, Joseph M. Evans Jr., 18, of Orwigsburg, were not injured. Bassininsky was cited for drivng on roadways laned for traffic.A one vehicle crash occurred about 5:46 a.m. on Friday along SR61 in West Brunswick Township. Troopers said Caryn D. Chattin, 33, of Schuylkill Haven, was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze northbound when, for unknown reasons, the car left the road and struck the guide rail. After impact the car continued north coming to rest in the northbound lane about 282 feet from the initial point on impact.Chattin was injured and taken to SMC-S. Jackson St. for treatment. She was cited for traveling on roadways laned for traffic.As crash occurred about 8:27 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, along SR61 in North Manheim Township. Troopers said Damian M. Faust, 18, of Orwigsburg, was driving a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse, and a Ford Mustang were traveling side by side at a high rage of speed southbound. Both vehicles came upon a 1997 GMC Sonoma driven by Scott R. Seiders, 23, of Schuylkill Haven. Faust tried to pass on the left but could not due to the Mustang in that lane and then attempted to pass from the berm which caused him to lose control.The Eclipse bounced off the guide rail and struck the GMC on the passenger side. It then spun off the shoulder and flipped over onto its roof. No one was injured. The driver of the Mustang was not identified. Troopers indicated taht Faust would be cited.A crash was reported about 2 p.m. on Saturday at the intersection of state routes 183 and 895, in Wayne Township. Troopers said Arlue Faye Merson, 58, of Danville, driving a 1993 Plymouth Acclaim, was pulled out from 895 attempting to make a left turn onto 183 northbound while Edward R. Kacelowicz, 62, of Orwigsburg, driving a 2008 Ford Taurus, was northbound on 183.Troopers sid Merson pulled into the path of Kacelowicz striking the passenger side of the Taurus with the front end of the Acclaim.Merson and her passenger, Alice Ann George, 56, of Danville, received minor injuries and taken to the SMC-S. Jackson St. Kacelowicz and his wife, Evelyn, 62, were not injured. Both vehicles sustained disabling damages and had to be towed from the scene.A crash was reported about 8:08 p.m. on Monday, May 7, along SR61 in North Manheim Township. Troopers said Kristin N. Spofford, 21, of Schuylkill Haven, driving a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta, was momentarily stopped for a red traffic light facing north and turning left while Carolyn Fessler, 75, also of Schuylkill Haven, driving a 2001 Pontiac Bonneville, was stoppd facing south.When the light turned green for north and southbound traffic Spofford failed to yield the right-of-way to Fessler. Fessler's vehicle then struck Spofford's. The crash was at the entrance to the Cressona Mall.Fessler was injured and taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville, for treatment.Troopers cited Spofford for vehicle turning left.
