The Carbon County Tourist Promotion Agency, which is interested in preserving historical sites throughout the county as well as promoting prime tourist attractions, took steps to improve upon the appearance of the Col. Jacob Weiss Memorial Monument and plot in Bunker Hill Cemetery, Weissport. Richard Hoben, Lansford, president, named Mayor Albert U. Koch and A. E. Bayer, both of Lehighton, to converse with Merle Weiss, 73, a descendent of Colonel Weiss, who has expressed an interest in setting up a trust fund for perpetual care of the memorial plot.
