Full house attends chorus event at Lehighton Area Middle School

It was a full house in the spacious Lehighton Area Middle School for the students' annual Spring Chorus Concert.

The students in grades five through eight provided quite a mixture of tunes, from the musical "Grease," to "Chattanooga Choo Choo," to special soloist numbers.The concert opened with the Music Express Jr., directed by Laura A. Welkey, during a high-energy presentation of "Grease."Among the highlights was soloist Tyler Dietz doing the number "You're the One That I Want."Other "Grease" selections were "Born to Hand Jive" and "We Go Together."The Treble Chorale, directed by Thomas Weidner, then took th stage for five songs.They sang "Chattanooga Choo Choo," "Skip! Skip! Shoo, Fly Shoo," "The Silence and the Song," "America, the Free," and "The Banjo's Back in Town."The finale consisted of the Seventh and Eighth Grade Choraliers, directed by Welkey.Five eighth grade soloists were featured in this segment of the show:• Cammi Nalesnik was featured on the selection "Breakaway."• Ben Cordova and Devon Linaberry were soloists for "Don't Stop Believin' (as on 'Glee').• Rene Ronemus and Emily Corza soloed during the song "Let There Be Peace."High school senior Michael Warkala was the accompanist when the Choraliers sang "Little Wheel A-Turning" and "Ubi Caritas."One other selection by the group was "Waka Waka (This Time For Africa)."
