Awards will be given to the top overall male and female finisher as well as to the top three finishers in eight age groups. Participants will receive a bag of incentives and gifts as well as a technical tee shirt in either a men's or women's size. There will also be a raffle drawing and refreshments after the race."When we started the Bear Run five years ago, it became an instant hit," said Race Director Kevin Noll. "The only local race in the Brodheadsville area has drawn many members from the immediate community. The race has a small town, homegrown feel to it, and Pleasant Valley makes for the perfect venue."The race has also become popular since organizers added the walking option and student and family discounts. "We've had registrations from families of two, three and even four and more members. They like the idea that whether they walk or run the entire family can participate."Proceeds from this year's event will benefit community projects as well as Girls on the Run, a nationwide program that encourages preteen girls to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles through running.Registration forms can be found at
