Lansford man charged with simple assault

Paul Walck, 22, of 345 W. Bertsch St., Lansford, faces charges from an incident which took place on March 8 at 3:10 p.m. at his residence. Charges were filed by Lansford Officer Brian Horos. Walck is charged with two counts of simple assault, disorderly conduct, and harassment.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, here's what happened:Police were called to the address for a fight in progress, with one man reported to be lying on the ground, in a seizure, with his father, Steve Walck, sitting next to him and holding him. Steve Walck told police Paul Walck and Clair Borger had gotten into a fight over a cell phone. Paul Walck struck Borger in the head and threw a fan at him. While they were fighting, Paul Walck yelled to his father (Steve Walck) to go get a knife. At that point, Borger grabbed Paul Walck in a choke hold and choked him to the point of unconsciousness.Emergency medical services arrived on scene and aided Walck, who was first taken by ambulance to Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale, then flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.Borger was arrested and taken to the police station. He signed off on his Miranda rights and gave police a written statement.Steve Walck and another witness came to the station to give statements as witnesses. Paul Walck came to the station on March 22 after being released from the hospital, was given his Miranda warnings and gave police a written statement.
