Faces charges after Lansford incident

Mercedes Reithoffer, 22, of 19468 Camp Lane, Jupiter, Florida, faces charges after an incident which took place on May 2 at 7:41 p.m. at Bertsch and Cortright streets, Lansford. Charges were filed by borough Officer Brian Horos and Officer Joshua Tom.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, here's what happened:The officers were on duty when they received a call that a possibly intoxicated man was driving from the parking lot of Boyer's Market. They saw a vehicle matching the description given by the caller at West Bertsch and Cortright streets.They arrested the driver, Sean Gallagher, and charged him with driving under the influence and possession of drug paraphernalia. They noticed Reithoffer was nervous during the pat-down and that she attempted to take something out of her shirt. Police ordered her to stop moving and asked Summit Hill Officer Lori Leinhard, who was assisting, take her back to the station to a secured area for a pat-down. While undergoing the second attempt, Reithoffer removed a hypodermic needle she had hidden in her bra. She also had in her possession a crack pipe made from a white plastic pen, with drug residue, inside her makeup case.
