Palmerton Area Library looking for volunteers

The Palmerton Area Library is looking for volunteers in a number of areas at the library.

The Used Book Sale in the basement is completely run by volunteers but the donations have been coming in faster than the small group can handle. All proceeds from the Book Sale go directly to the library and help make up some of the funding lost in recent years from the state. The volunteers sort the books, discard unsuitable items, and place them on the shelves for purchase by the public. If you have an hour or two per week to help with this resource, the staff at the library will train you and answer all your questions. Work in the Book Sale can be done on your own time schedule during regular library hours. The library also has other ways volunteers can help the library. You can adopt a shelf and keep your shelf in order by visiting the library every two weeks to maintain it.If you like scrapbooking they are looking for a volunteer to keep up the library scrapbook with articles they clip from the newspapers and other items. If you enjoy working with children, you can be a volunteer reader at our Friday story times or help with Homework Helpers after school on Wednesdays. Please consider helping at your local library to make a difference in your community. If you have any questions about the volunteer program at the library, please call the library at 610-826-3424 and ask for Mariann. The library is open Mondays and Tuesdays from 10 a.m.-8 p.m., Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
