Team Mars is the top 'Snoops'

Team Mars of Franklin Township Elementary School received first place awards for being the top team in the second and third grade (Snoops) division at the Carbon County Environmental Education Center's annual Envirothon, held at the facility in Summit Hill on Monday. Team Mars, a third grade team, included, standing on rock from left, Jade Schleicher; Brooke Schleicher; Ashley Beers; Hunter Popovich, captain; and Dylan Guyn. With them are, front from left, Scott Dudley, Lions Club District Governor; Laurel Zimmerman, team advisor; Jeannie Carl, CCEEC naturalist; and Sandy Gallagher, Lions region chairperson. Dudley and Gallagher were representing the area Lions Clubs who sponsored this year's event. Other teams that placed are: Super Science Smarties of Mahoning Elementary, second; The Eagles of Tamaqua Elementary, third; and Bomber Bears of SS Palmer Elementary, honorable mention.
