A woman was seriously injured Friday in Lehighton when involved in a single-vehicle crash along Mahoning Street near 12th street. The crash occurred just before noon as she was driving west and apparently failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. Her sport utility vehicle left the right berm, impacting with a tree. One Lehighton paramedic gained access to the victim by removing a side rear window and climbing into the unit. The woman was freed from the wreckage by members of the Lehighton Fire Department. She was treated at the scene and transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital Trauma Center in Allentown. Lehighton police are investigating the incident.
