Touchdown Clubmeeting scheduled

The monthly meeting of the Jim Thorpe Olympian Touchdown Club will be held this evening, Monday, May 7, at 6 p.m. in the commons area of the high school. Parents, relatives and friends are invited to attend. Plans for the activities for this month a car wash, Pizza Hut Night and Burger King Night, will be discussed and furthered.Food pantry slatedThe Shepherd House Food Pantry at Ebenezer E. C. Church will be open on Saturday, May 12 from 9-11 a.m. Recipients must reside within the Jim Thorpe School District and fall within TEFAP income guidelines. The pantry is located at 441 Center Ave. in Jim Thorpe. Please park in the Cherry Avenue parking lot and enter through the rear entrance.Please consider donating your time to help keep the food pantry open for those who need it. Thank you for your continued food donations in the bin at the Jim Thorpe Market.Please call (570) 325-2855 for more information or if you are able to help with setting up the pantry on May 11 at 10:30 a.m.Women's Bible StudyThe Women's Ecumenical Bible Study group from St. John's Lutheran Church, South Avenue, will meet on Wednesday, May 9, at 6:30 p.m. in the Good Shepherd Room of the church. All local women are invited. The group will be discussing women of the Bible speak to women of today. Attendees will examine some of the fascinating stories of Biblical women and learn about them and their life experiences.Openings in theboroughThe Jim Thorpe Borough Council will be accepting letters of interest from residents for positions on the following committees: Jim Thorpe Zoning Hearing Board and Jim Thorpe Planning Commission. Letters must be received at the borough office by 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 10.
