May 3, 1988 John Mateyak, Vance Welker and Missy Chinchar all win three events to help Tamaqua's track teams gain a sweep of Blue Mountain. Mateyak claims first in the shot put, javelin and discus while Welker breaks the tape in the 100, 200 and 110 high hurdles as the Raider boys roll to a 101-49 victory. Jamie Gerber also aids the cause by taking both the long and high jumps. Chinchar leads the Lady Raiders to an 89-52 triumph with wins in the long and triple jumps, and the 110 hurdles. Tricia Plasko cops the 100 in 12.3 to set a new Tamaqua stadium record.
