S.S. Palmer High School Class of 1957 will hold its 55th Class Reunion on June 9, with a family-style dinner at the Blue Ridge Country Club. A social hour with cash bar will begin at 4 p.m. A group photo will be taken, followed by the meal at 5 p.m. For more information, please visit

There will be one sweep of the Palmerton, Aquashicola, and Little Gap areas beginning at 8 a.m.Papers should be bundled and placed within sight of the collectors. They are collecting papers only, no magazines. The shiny inserts are acceptable. They also need grocery-size brown paper bags.Persons missed, or those wishing to dispose of papers, may bring them to the garage across from the church on Fireline Road, which is always open. In case of bad weather, the drive will be held the following Saturday.Community mealA free community meal will be held from 5-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, at St. John's United Church of Christ, 891 Columbia Ave., Palmerton. Enjoy a free meal and fellowship.VFWAt 7 p.m. Monday, May 14, Palmerton Memorial VFW Post 7134 will hold its monthly meeting at the Palmerton VFW, 2020 Forest Inn Road, Palmerton. Current active VFW members, veterans, and active duty personnel from all service branches are invited to attend. New members are welcome.LWR QuiltersThe Lutheran World Relief quilters of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton, will meet at the church from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 5. Everyone is welcome to join the group.Knitting ClubThe Knitting Club will meet at the Palmerton Area Library from 6-8 p.m., Monday, May 7. The club is open to all area residents interested in knitting, crocheting and other crafts. The club is free, and new members are always welcome.Special story timeOn Friday, May 11, at 10:30 a.m., Carol Boyce, superintendent of Palmerton Area School District, will be reading to the children during the weekly story hour at the Palmerton Area Library.Celebrates anniversaryYour correspondent, Lenora, and her husband, Gerald Robertson, celebrated their eighth wedding anniversary on April 24.Mr. and Mrs. Robertson would also like to announce the marriage of their daughter, Lisa Green, to Christopher Bragg. They were married during a family dinner on Jan. 1, 2012. Lisa is the granddaughter of Lillian Smith of Palmerton, and daughter of the late Donald Green. The couple resides in Macungie, Pa.
