Jim Thorpe man among 8 arrested in 'bath salts' drug ring in central Pa.

A Carbon County man was among eight persons arrested last week as part of a drug ring that distributed "bath salts" and synthetic marijuana in central Pennsylvania.

Federal authorities claimed the ring operated a $6 million operation in the sale of the illegal drugs. The brand names used in the sales included "Purple Haze Krytonite" and "Bangkok Chill." The ring operated in the Dauphin, Cumberland, Lebanon, Mifflin and Lancaster counties.A grand jury recommended the charges against the men.Charged were Jesse Roldan, 40, of Jim Thorpe; Kulwinder Singh Grewal, 38, of Myerstown, Lebanon County; Amarjit Singh Grewal, 32, Ephrata, Lancaster County; Steven Accardi, 30, of Lancaster County; Beljeet Singh, 43, of Lancaster; Inderjit Jassal, 31, of Juniata County; and Fatra Jaswinder, 41, and Slimane Belabbas, 34, both of Northumberland County.Each will face charges of distribution of controlled substances, use of a communication facility to distribute, criminal conspiracy to distribute, and distributing and conspiring to distribute misbranded drugs.If convicted, each defendant faces a combined maximum term of imprisonment of 52 years and fines totaling $2.75 million.
