A Monroe County woman has been charged with assaulting a county probation officer.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said about 9:30 a.m. on April 17 they were dispatched to the Pocono Mountain West High School in Pocono Summit for a fight.Upon arrival officers were told by Brian Holley, a county adult probation officer, that he arranged a meeting at the school with Denise Maldonado, 36, of Tobyhanna, and her 17-year-old son for a probation violation.Holley said when he took the son into custody for the probation violation Maldonado started assaulting him by striking him several times in the face area. It took several other people at the school to assist in breaking up the assault in the hallway, police said.Maldonado was taken into custody and charges with aggravated and simple assault, and harassment. She was arraigned before District Judge Richard S. Claypool, of Pocono Pines, and released on $15,000 unsecured bail.
